I love my iPhone 3G. I think it’s a great little device and I think I blows away almost every other mobile device out there. But I do have a few complaints, and since this is holiday season I’m putting out my iPhone feature wishlist.
Dear Apple, please fix the following concerns with the iPhone 3G so that I can become a bigger fanboy:
- No MMS
- Can’t forward SMS messages
- No copy / paste
- No autosensing of best available network — assumes that WiFi > 3G > EGDE regardless of connection quality or port blocking
- No way to send contact information in an SMS message
- iTunes music store only available over WiFi
- Can’t turn off screen during video playback (to save battery life, if only interested in the audio), audio stops too
- No audible turn-by-turn direction in GPS
- No automatic route recalculation in GPS
- Keyboard wont rotate for fast typing in most applications
- Can’t background third party music apps (they close)
- No flash player
- No stereo bluetooth (for music playback)
- Battery life sucks
- Missed call plus voicemail ends up as 2 misses on the badge (this makes sense but is more obnoxious than useful)
- In recent calls and SMS the direction (sent/received) of the last call / message is not displayed
- Cannot have both locally-synced calendars and Exchange calendars (!)
- Lack of a general use filesystem — would be nice to be able to use as mass storage device or to share files between applications
- Lack of general use applications (related to previous) — iPod (application) should be able to play audio files from the web, internet radio URLs, etc
- No tethering — to utilize 3G / EDGE connection from another computer
- Camera can’t do macro (though the Griffin Clarifi is a very nice workaround)
- Video recording
- Basic categorization for taken photos
Thanks for the phone,
Cameron
P.S. Well played.
